Question by hibiscus: Does the police department (or FBI or whatever it is) loan money in kidnapping case?
My question is genuine, answer seriously please.
If children are kidnapped and a ransom is asked and you do not have the money yet you are expecting a large amount (from inheritance, from the lottery, from insurance, etc …) , will they loan you the money or not?

First and foremost, kidnappings/missing persons should be reported to the police immediately.

Regarding the financial portion of your question: more than likely a bank would consider a confirmed lotto winner for a loan; but certainly not for the purpose of a ransom or without collateral etc.

do you lend money to friends family or partners and do they ever pay you back?

i myself dont have a problem with it. with family and partners i tend to ‘give’ rather than ‘lend’ – it evens out in the end anyway. but with friends i tend to never get it back. ever. whats your experience of this

i watched judge judy a while back and this couple were arguing over whether reparis for a car were a ‘gift’ or a ‘loan’. lots of people want to get money back for things bought as a couple (not married) when they split up. is this selfish and petty of them?!

i think unless they owe you half a house or they have taken your entire car, then they should just forget it. i heard a story about a guy who wanted the money for dinners and gifts recompensated after they split.

whats your opinion on this general subject

Question by empanda: Can I legitimately get money off my rent?
We just moved into a new house and when we did the place was filthy – walls dirty,carpets muddy, cobwebs everywhere. We were told it would be clean before we moved in. Also, when we viewed the property I specifically asked if a big under-stairs storage area had damp, and the agent said no. However, on moving in, it is so damp the door is actually rotten (and because of this, very difficult to open) and whenever you touch the walls paint comes away on your hand.

We have thus had to spend lots of time on cleaning and decorating, and buy additional storage (it’s a furnished flat) and I have not had time to work all week (I am freelance).

My mother reckons we are within our rights to ask for two weeks rent free to make up for the time and money we have spent on this, and I wondered what our prospects were.

Has anyone ever done this?
Does anyone work for a property management company?
Any Advice?
